RESEARCH DIRECTION NUMBER 1: HOUSING

Find a breed that is, first, suitable for your housing. Singapore has very stringent rules on keeping only the approved breeds in the HDB. If you are staying in a HDB, it is recommended that you look into the HDB approved list before venturing further.

The HDB does exceptions for certain non-approved breeds. Please email your HDB office or contact us to find out more.

If you are residing in a private address, you have more options. Your choices are open to all dog breeds except for the banned dogs list.

RESEARCH DIRECTION NUMBER 2: LIFESTYLE

Relook at the lifestyle that you and your family keep. Are you laid back? Or, do you go for jogs 3 times a week? Different breeds have different needs.

It will be cruel to keep an active breed just because of its cute looks, when you are a couch potato. An active breed cannot conform, the puppy cannot change. You will be compelled to give up the puppy in no time.

A pet is for life, it is more than a decision in the spur of a moment. Please think carefully before committing.
